The Morning Post says: "Mr Lang’s 18 months’ rule' has brought the good name of New South Wales into contempt and has embarrassed the credit of the whole of the Commonwealth abroad. There is probably no instance of the dismissal of a Ministry by the exercise of prerogative since William the Fourth’s dismissal of the Melbourne Ministry in 1834, but Sir Philip Game’s action would be capable of being repeated here or in any part of the Empire if reasons of State demanded it. The use of the prerogative is obsolete in practice as a means of enforcing the will of the Crown upon a reluctant Minister on questions of policy, but it remains as a living and effective guardian of the Constitution and the liberties of the people against Ministers like Mr Lang who seek to set themselves above the law.” A TREMENDOUS RELIEF TRADE IMPROVEMENT EXPECTED. MELBOURNE, May 10. “ The news of the change in Government in New South Wales has been a tremendous relief to the business community,” said Mr E. H, Wreford, chief manager of the National Bank of Australasia and chairman of the Associated Banks of Victoria. “ A general improvement in trade and industry is expected, and the banks are waiting to do their part to aid recovery. ENFORCEMENT LEGISLATION BILL FOR SUSPENSION. CANBERRA, May 16.
