ASSOCIATION FOOTBALL
MANAGEMENT COMMITTEE MEETS Mr J. Simpson presided at the weekly meeting of the Management Committee of the Otago Football Association, which was held last evening. A request from the North Taicri School for a ball was granted. The secretary of the Otago High School Old Boys’ Club notified that his committee had decided not to enter for the Chatham Cup. The secretary of the Morniugton Club forwarded a complaint in regard to the Morniugton ground. The chairman stated that he had been asked to mention the Unity ground, where the overflow from a ditch made the playing area very boggy.—lt was decided to draw the attention of the Reserves Committee of the City Council to these matters. , The Technical Club advised that owing to the referee for the Third Grade match Technical v. Leith failing to fulfil his engagement, Mr Grant had filled the position, the game resulting Leith 1, Technical nil.—The result of the match to stand, Leith to be awarded the two points. It was also decided to refer the complaint to the Referees’ Club. TEST MATCH. # A suggestion from the selector of the Otago representative team that a test match should be played on cither May 28 or June 3 came up for consideration. The chairman stated that in view of the challenge match with Canterbury on June 11 at Dunedin the idea was a good one, but as the committee had previously decided to play the Chatham Cup matches on June 3 it would mean holding up the Fletcher Cup competition for a week. They had also to consider a request from the Southland Association ,for a 1 representative game on June 3 at Dunedin. Members were of the opinion that they should concentrate on the Football Association Trophy, and it was decided to play a test match on May 28. With respect to Southland’s request the secretary was instructed to advise that association that it was not possible to accept a visit from them on June 3, but that a suitable date might be arranged later on.
