WINTER SHOW The secretary of the Otago A. and P. Society lias received a letter from the Minister of Finance (Mr W. Downie Stewart) thanking the coinmittee for its invitation to be present at the Winter Show. Mr Stewart was unable to say whether it would be possible for him to be present and officially open the show, and in the event of his not being able to officiate lie would confer with the Prime Minister (Air G. W. Forbes) in regard to an official representative of the Government being present. At a mooting of the executive of the society held on Saturday morning, it was decided, owing to the large number ol requests received for schedules to extend the date for Hie closing of entries until Saturday, May 31. The Space Committee had had a trying time in allot,ing the different spaces applied for. So far, 47 allotments have been made, and it is proposed to endeavour to allocate the balance on Wednesday. The building will be available for the erection of stands on Monday, May 23, and all such work must be completed by noon on the opening day. A number of applications have been received for space for side-shows, and it has been decided that these will be placed in the theatre annexe, which has been reserved for that purpose. Practically all the judges who have been nominated to adjudicate in the various sections have accepted, and every effort will be made to commence judging in all sections at 9.30 a.m. on the opening day.
