A previous message stated: Special significance is attached to two develop* ments in the prohibition situation. The first is the adoption by the Missouri State Republican Convention of a resolution asking for the resubmission of the Eighteenth Amendment to State constitutional conventions, and the approval of the resolution by the Secretary of Agn’culture (Mr A. M. Hyde), one of the lending “dry” exponents in the Cabinet, The second is the announcement of plans for “ beer parades ” throughout the nation, suggested by the Mayor of New York (Mr Walker) for May 15. ihe heads of cities and national groups of various sorts, including the American Federation of Labour, have accepted the proposal. Mr Hyde’s move is expected to presage a similar programme in the National Republican Party’s platform.
