CYCLING

PACIFIC CLUB. The Pacific Club held its Three-mile Handicap on Saturday under ideal weather conditions there being no wind to hinder the riders. Owing to the Forbury Park track being unfit to ride on, the race was held over a course from Forbury Park along Victoria road to the end of Tahnna Park and back. A field of 15 riders faced the starter, Mr J. Wilson. The limit men, J. Deans and F. Dasher set up a fast pace, but were overtaken by Fastier (18sec) and Gilchrist (12sec) at St. Kilda terminus, and they in turn were overtaken by D. M'Callum. Round the turn M'Callum led Gilchrist, Dasher, Deans, Foster, with Kennedy, Hansen, and Cooper close behind. In the run home M'Callum led easily from Gilchrist, Hansen, and Cooper, the two latter dropping Gilchrist in' the sprint. The placings were:—D. M'Callum 1, C Hansen 2, H. Cooper 3. C- Gilchrist 4. J. Kennedy 5. OTAGO AMATEUR CYCLING CLUB. The Otago Amateur Cycling Club held a run on Saturday afternoon from the Caledonian Ground > to the Brighton Cemetery and back, a good number of riders taking part. They split into two packs and rode steadily out. while the pace was very hot coming back. D. Smart, R. Wilson-Pinc. A. Oakes, and D. Gray showed out well in the first pack, while E. Blair, J. Nelson, and A. Beveridge were well to the fore in the next bunch. The club will bold a race next Saturday from Pnrkside to East Taicri and back, starting at 2.15 p.m. PROFESSIONAL CYCLING The Otago Athletic and Cycling Club held a cycle road race on Saturday from Parkside to East Taicri and return, n distance of 19 miles. A good ficid ot 14 riders faced the starter, the limit men (M'Queen. J. Brosnan, and F. Dalziel) setting off at 2.45 p.m. Official placing?: —F. T. Beale (7-Jmin). 54min 58see, 1; M.
