COUNT TOLSTOI'S FEAT

ARMED BANDIT TACKLED. Count Michel Tolstoi, son of the illustrious author, was walking home at about 2 o’clock, in Paris, on a recent morning, when he was attacked in the Avenue Kleber by two armed men. He was a short distance behind the men when one of them suddenly turned round and, covering the count with a revolver, cried, “Your money, or I will fire.” Although the count is 52 years of age, he is still a very active man. Springing upon the bandit he struck him vigorously with his walking stick and his left fist. The bandit was so astonished that ho retreated with his confederate to a motor car waiting a short distance away. After firing two shots, which did no harm, the men drove off.
