SCHOOLGIRLS’ WEEK-END CAMP

A well-attended week-end camp for school girls of Otago and Southland, under the auspices of the New Zealand Student Christian Movement, was held at Beach street, Waikouaiti, from May 7 to May 11. The following schools were represented: Waitaki Girls’ High School, Dunedin Technical High School, Otago Girls’ High School, and Southland Girls’ High School. The general arrangements and management were in the hands of Miss Dalrymple and Miss Sutton (Otago Girls’ High School). Other officers were Miss E. Anderson (Dunedin Technical High School) and Miss G. Maclaren and Miss M. Kirk (Otago University). Services in the Presbyterian and Anglican Churches were attended on Sunday morning. A merry climb to-the top. of Matauaka, a walk to Karitane with an enforced bus ride home in the rain, and a torturous paper chase over the sandhills provided excellent exercise for active limbs.

Tlie Bible studies were prepared by Miss Elsie Graham, formerly travelling secretary of tlie movement; and the evening talks and discussion, with the idea of Aladdin’s “ New Lamps for Old ” behind them, all were on the Bible, home, and school. Heading aloud, singing, and sewing for relief purposes, formed also a part of each evening’s programme.
