GERMAN UNEMPLOYED

PROPOSAL FOR RELIEF LOAN OF UNLIMITED AMOUNT., BERLIN, May 8. (Received May 9, at 9.30 p.m.) The Reichsrat has approved of a determined attempt to reduce the number of unemployed in Germany by means of a big labour loan, which the Reichstag will consider on Monday. The money will be used for land improvement and settlement and public works. The yield to subscribers will be per cent., but the loan is attractive because it will be exempt from taxation. There will be no limit to the total amount.

Meanwhile well-known enterprises continue to close down, including the famous amber works at Palmnicker, East Prussia, on which the Prussian Government lias spent £600,000 since 1925 in a vain effort to keep them going. Junkers aeroplane works at Dessau have also been closed.
