THE VEDIC CAFE

Delightful music is always a feature at the Vedic Cafe, where a high standard has been consistently maintained, to the delight of all patrons. It is announced that, during the week commencing on Monday next, there will appear at each afternoon session Margherita Zelanda, who has been described as New Zealand’s premier coloratura soprano. Late of Palermo and Milan, where she studied under the celebrated Maestros Benedetto Morasca and Manlio Bavagnoli, she has been acclaimed by the press as one of the greatest coloraturas of the day. Margherita Zelanda possesses a bird-like voice of rare beauty. Her repertoire is extensive and diversified, and among the numbers she is to sing next week are “ Saper Vorreste” (from the opera “ The Masked Ball”), by Verdi; “The Bell Song” (from “Lalcme”), by Delibes. The Vedic Trio, under the direction of Mr Leslie V. Harvey, will play a specially selected programme, details of which are advertised in this issue.
