VIVISECTION
TO THE EDITOR, Sir, —Who is this person that condemns vivisection in this morning’s paper? Indeed, he must be very ignorant, for otherwise it is hard to understand how he could write such nonsense. His ignorance is accentuated by what he says about Dr Spahlinger, whose work will prove a great boon to mankind. Those who really understand what is being done know how much good has been done for mankind. The animals experimented upon do not suffer any pain, since they are anaesthetised before any operation is done. If my friend condemns the use of animals for the purposes of experimenting, how, then, are research workers to find cures for certain diseases the cures for which are at present unknown? Perhaps he is willing to offer his own person for the purposes of experiment?—l am, etc., Yivisectionist. March 23.
