SPEED RECORDS
ALL HELD BY BRITAIN THREE TO THE BLUE BIRD, (British Official Wireless.) RUGBY, February 25. In addition to breaking the record for the one mile Sir Malcolm Campbell’s performance establishes a new record for the one kilometre and five kilometres. Britain holds all official speed records for land, sea, and air. These records were secured in the air by Flight-lieutenant Stainforth at 407.5 miles per hour, and on water by Kaye Don at 110.28 miles per hour. The claim by the American, Gar Wood, to have attained a water speed of 111.712 miles per hour has not been officially recognised. The records for motor cycling speed, both on the track and on the road, are, also held by riders, and the fastest railroad speed” goes to the credit of the Great Western Railway’s Cheltenham Flyer, which was driven by Engine-driver Stone at 81.2 miles per hour. SIR MALCOLM CAMPBELL. FURTHER ATTEMPT POSTPONED, NEW YORK, February 25. A message from Daytona Beach states that Sir Malcolm Campbell to-day post-, poned his record attempt to Friday, owing to rain.
