BOOTLEGGERS RESPONSIBLE AVOIDING INCOME TAX. (United Press Association.) (By Electric Telegraph—Copyright.) VANCOUVER, February 25. (Received Feb. 26, at 1 a.m.l A leading financier in New York suggests that one real cause of the depression is hoarding by bootleggers and racketeers. Several hundred thousand of these men, many of whom have considerable wealth, fear to deposit or illegal funds, their one object in life being to avoid the payment, of income tax. RULE OF THE GUN. TOLL IN GANGLAND. VANCOUVER, February 25. (Received Feb. 26, at 1 a.m.) It is estimated that 25,000 gangsters have been killed by gunfire since Prohibition was first enforced.
