LYNCHING SENSATION

“ REIGN OF TERROR ” IN HAWAII INVESTIGATION REQUESTED. WASHINGTON, January 10. (Received Jan. 11, at 5.5 p.m.) Representative Britten has requested a Congressional investigation of the “ reign of terror ” which is reported to be imminent in Hawaii, and he demands naval occupation until order is restored. Meanwhile Major Granville Fortescue, who is ill with pneumonia in New York, has become gravely ill owing to worry concerning his wife’s difficulties in Honolulu. Other members of the family plan to hurry to the assistance of Mrs Fortescue and Lieutenant Massie. A message published yesterday stated that Mrs Fortescue and Lieutenant Massie had been arrested in connection with the lynching of a youth in Honolulu.
