ASSOCIATION FOOTBALL

NEW ZEALAND ASSOCIATION (Peb United Press Association.) WELLINGTON, August 11. It was reported at the New Zealand Football Association meeting this evening that the net loss of £3O was ineux-red on the Football Association trophy match. Wellington v. Otago. The Auckland Association intimated that it desired to challenge the winners of the Otago v. Canterbury match for the Football Association trophy. It was decided to advise that August 29 would be suitable. It was decided that the South Island final of the Chatham Cup should be played at Christchurch on August 15. The teams will be Nomads and Seacliff. A further challenge was received from Manawatu for the Brown Shield, and this was referred to South Auckland, the holders. The Auckland Football Association wrote stating that a protest by the Ponsonby Club alleging that short time was played in the Chatham Cup game had been discussed with a view to preventing a recurrence. The association suggested the appointment of official timekeepers in important games so that referees would not' need to be making constant reference to their watches towards the close of a game. The secretary was instructed to reply that such a course would be contrary to the laws of the game.
