Mrs Dorothy Shepherd (England), who got a bye in the first round, defeated Miss Alice Marble (San Francisco), 6—3, 6—4, in the second round, and Miss Josephine Cruickshank (California), 7 —5, 3—6, 6—3, in the third round to reach the semi-finals. * SEMI-FINALS PLAYED. MRS SHEPHERD WINS AGAIN. VANCOUVER, August 3. In the semi-finals to-day Mrs Shepherd defeated Mary Greet (Kansas City), 4 —6, 6—3, o—2;0 —2; Mrs John Van Ryn defeated Mrs Marion Zinderstein Jessup (Wilmington, Delaware), 6—4, 10—8. In the doubles Misses Phyllis Mudford and Betty Nuthall entered the final by defeating Miss Alice Marble and Dorothy Weisel (Sacramento), 6—l, 6—3.
