SWANSEA, August 3. -The, New Zealand cricketers established a good position against Glamorgan. Their innings closed for. 363 When stumps were drawn Glamorgan had three wickets in hand, and required 61 runs to avert an innings defeat. Mills’s fine innings closed shortly before lunch, when he snicked a ball and was caught by the wicketkeeper. It was a chanceless display, lasting 255 minutes. Graceful off shots were a feature of his innings. He hit 15 4’s. Cromb played one on in the last over before lunch. ' ’ , Vivian and Matheson attacked the bowling after lunch. The former played a sound,, undefeated innings of 100 minutes. He hit Six 4’s and one 6 off Clay clean out of the ground. Glamorgan again started badly. Howard attempted to hit a good length ball from Cromb, and Bates walked in front of a ball from Matheson. Two wickets were down for 25. Dyson and Davies batted cautiously to the steady bowling ,of Talbot and Cromb. The former was dismissed immediately after tea. . Talbot continued to bowl* well, and dismissed Davies and Turnbull with late in-swingers. Duckworth was badly beaten by Cromb. Jenkins and \Lavis. defied several bowling changes.
