MANAGEMENT COMMITTEE’S MEETING

The weekly meeting of the Management Committee of the Otago Football Association was held in the Y.M.C.A, last night. Mr J. Simpson occupied the chair.

Mr T. Ruddiman, a vice-president of the association, tendered his congratulations to the manager of the Otago team (Mr J. Simpson) on the team’s victory over the Wellington team in the Football Association Trophy match on Saturday, The secretary of the Port Chalmers Club (Mr E. Holden) appeared in connection with the ordering off of a Port Chalmers player ‘ whose name had not been ascertained. The secretary of the association explained that he had written two letters to the Port Chalmers Chib requesting that the name of the player referred to be furnished. These letters had not been answered.—Mr Holden said that he had not received the first letter, and exceptional circumstances had prevented his answering the only one life had received. He had endeavoured to find out the name of the player, but had not been successful.—Mr Holden’s explanation was accepted, and the matter was allowed to drop. The master in charge of Association football at the Dunedin Technical High School requested permission for the school’s Fifth Grade A team to play a Christchurch team 1 at Prospect Park on Thursday, August 20.—Granted. The secretary of the North Island Secondary Schools’ Football Association wrote enclosing a copy of the rules and constitution of that body, and suggesting that a similar body be formed in the South Island. —Left to Mr M, G. .M'lnnes to reply.

The Otago Boys’ High School Club was granted the use of the main ground at Logan Park for August 26 to play matches against combined Greymouth secondary school teams.

W. Hope was granted a transfer from the Northern to the Leith Club.

The chairman, who was manager of the Otago team, reported on the tour to Wellington, and remarked on the hospitality which had been extended to the team, and on the high standard of the < play. The chairman was thanked for his report. Mr F. Ball, manager of the Otago second team, reported on the arrangements made and on the. match against Southland on Saturday. The Southland team was very much improved compared with last year, although the Otago team had shown a ( definite _ superiority.—Mr Ball was thanked for his report. PRIMARY SCHOOLS’ GAMES.
