TO THE EDITOR. Sib, —I am very much surprised at the amount of goree and broom that is allowed to grow at the Berwick end of the Taieri. Paddocks and hills that were growing good crops a few years ago are now one mass of gorse. Surely there is plenty of work here for a good number of the unemployed. If this land belonged to a poor man the inspectors would see that he cleared it, and he would get very little time to do it in.—l am; etc., June 11. i N.Z. Bulldog.
