HAMPDEN WATER SUPPLY
TO THE EDITOR. Sib, —Mr WoodroV Wilson had ,14 points. “ Progress ” should concentrate on seven. 1. “A golden opportunity.” There is nothing “golden” in New Zealand now, barring an occasional sunset. 2. “ A few councillors.” There were quite a number of ratepayers who signed the objection to the taking of a poll. The “ few " councillors have many backers. 3. As a matter of cold fact.” I believe “ Progress ” means cold water! 4. “Grossly misleading tactics.” Rude, and probably quite untrue, 5 “£4OOO loan.” -.“Progress” should know that Hampden has, at the present time, about as much hope of borrowing £4OOO as it has of borrowing the moon! 6. Some of the quarter-acre sections in Hampden are worth just about 8s 9d, so that amount is not so trifling an annual rate as “ Progress ” professes to think. 7. “ Hampden is a borough with every convenience.” Untrue again. There is no proper drainage, and, thanks to that fact, there is hardly an up-to-date convenience in the place!—T am. etc., Boob.
