A polo mallet autographed by the players who met in the 1911 AngloAmerican matches lias been sold at auction at Westbury (Rhode Island) for £1(50. Several times during the war the mallet was put up at auction at the Sportsmen’s Club, London, in order to raise funds to equip an ambulance corps, and each time it brought more than £IOOO. The names on the mallet, which was used by the British player, A. H. Wilson, who was killed in the war, include those of the celebrated big four of American polo, Harry Payne Whitney, Dcvcrcux* Milburn, Larry and Monty Waterbury. The names of the British players arc: Captain Leslie Cheapo, probably the most famous figure in British polo, who lost his life during the war, A. H. Wilson, H. Hardress Lloyd, and A. N. Edwards. ,
