No less than 17,257 bound volumes. 11,796 pamphlets, 189,760 magazines, and 349,210 newspapers were produced in Braille last year, according to the annual report of the National Institute for the Blind. Among the appliances supplied by the institue are Braille shorthand machines, mathematical frames for calculations in arithmetic and algebra, special tools for blind pianoforte-tuners, shoemakers, brass foot-rules, thermometers, needle threaders, and a Braille watch.
