SOUTH DUNEDIN WOMEN’S CHRISTIAN TEMPERANCE UNION

At a recent meeting of the South Dunedin Women’s Christian Temperance Union, presided oyer by Mrs Hinton, and later by Mrs Williamson, protests were made against the frequency of Sunday excursions on the railways, the goods carried giving facilities for Sunday trading. Protests were also raised against the style of advertising both on the hoardings and in certain papers. It was agreed that many such advertisements did nothing to uphold the establshed laws of decency. Arrangements were made for a prayer campaign in connection with the annual convention to be held this year at Nelson. Mrs Aderman was appointed as delegate from South Dunedin branch.
