BRITAIN FOR TOURISTS.

TRAVEL ASSOCIATION’S 1,000,000 CALENDARS. (From Oub Own Correspondent.') LONDON, January 2. Printed in red and black, with a bold “ 1931 ” on the cover, the Annual Calendar of Events in Great Britain and Ireland, with information for visitors, prepared by the Travel Association of Great Britain and Ireland, makes its second annual appearance. - One million copies of this calendar will again be printed, 600,000 in English and 400,000 in French, German, and Spanish, and distributed all over the world. The English edition, which is now ready is being despatched at once to distributing agents in the British dominions and the United States. It contains a full list of events taking place during each month of 1931 in all parts of the British Isles, with a special index of "old world customs” still celebrated and so popular with visitors to this country.

In a foreword, Lord Derby (president of the Travel Association) offers a welcome to all readers. “In Great Britain and Ireland,” writes Lord Derby, “you will find many things of unique interest, many of world-wide importance, great events which have a universal appeal, small events of a more intimate character, all combining to make the stay of a visitor. however long or short it may be, well worthy of the journey from his home, and still more worthy of recollection in times to come.”

In the section of the calendar devoted to information to visitors several new announcements appear. The Travel Association advises women members of clubs, societies, and professions overseas that they can be placed in touch with kindred bodies and organisations through the Travel Association when visiting Great Britain. Campers are informed that the Camping Club of Great Britain and Ireland will make them members and help them when camping and touring these islands. It is also announced that the Society of Genealogists has kindly offered to place its indexes and records at the disposal of visitors interested in tracing their descent from families in the British Isles.
