DUNEDIN’S AIR PORT.

OFFICIAL OPENING. On Saturday week the official opening of Otago’s air port, in conjunction with the official South Island air pageant, will take place at North Taieri. This will be the first time an air pageant has been held in Otago, and the officials have set themselves out to create a standard by which future pageants will be judged, so that the public may look forward to witnessing a performance out of the ordinary. It is expected that some 20 aeroplanes will take part, and the programme includes all manner of “ stunts, ranging from formation flights to “crazy” flymg. _ There also will be a number of competitions and races, such as Otago_ Aerial Derby, All Transport Race, Aerial Dog Fight, and Bombing the Baby. The programme is timed to ftart at 8.45 a.m., and to conclude at 4.50 p.m. Special trains, with excursion fares, will be run, while his Worship the Mayor has promised to make a special request to business people to close early that day to enable everyone to see as much of the pageant as possible. Motor car traffic to North Taieri will be regulated to prevent blocking of roads.
