CHILDREN HOAXED.

COLLECTION OF CARDS. Over 100,000 cigarette cards have been collected by Hampshire school children and teachers for a charitable object which they now learn has never existed. They began their collection aftci hearing that a firm of manufacturers had offered an annuity to a Bournemouth boy, provided that he could collect 75,000 cigarette cards before Christmas. It was understood that the boy was injured by a car when running into the roadway to pick up a cigarette card. Inquiries, however, have elicited the fact that the firm knows nothing about any accident or any annuity. •It is stated that Botley collected 50,000 cards, West End several thousand, Bishopstoke 18,000, and Eastleigh 30,000. Schools from Bournemouth to Petersfield have also contributed.
