CHARITY STAMPS.
VERY PEW PURCHASERS. (Special to Daily Times.) WELLINGTON, December 22. Very few people are buying charity stamps, according to the statements which vendors made in answers to queries on the subject to-day. The demand was not nearly what it was last year. A stamp vendor eaid that he had not sold one from his stock yet. He thought that the Government had been slow in not getting out a properly produced stamp from London instead of making last year’s design do for this year. Had it issued an attractive stamp the public response might have been much better. Instead of having a penny postage stamp for which 2d was charged, one man thought that the total cost should be a penny, with a half-penny for postage. People would probably use them for their Christmas cards, or if the Government thought fit it might issue it in addition to the present value.
