PHISONEEB SENTENCED. ' : (Peb United Press Association.) ' HAMILTON, June IG. The following prisoners were sentenced in the Supreme Court this m-ru-ing by Mr Justice Herdman:—-August Herman Dernier, found guilty of dangerously driving a car so as to 'cause the death of Norman Steven Bradley, was fined £IOO and his driver’s license was cancelled for three years.., ; Home Fairama, for shooting another Maori so as to cause grievous bodily harm, was ordered three years’ reformative detention. Whire Matangi, with a long list ,of convictions, waW sentenced to two years’ imprisonment for the theft of a horse, and was declared an habitualcriminal. Joseph Powell was fine £SO with costs (£2l) for bookmaking .'at Huntly. Walter John Butters,- aged 18, was sentenced to three years’ reformative treatment for indecent assault on. a girl aged five years at Morrinsville. For robbery with violence at Huntly Donald Hayward, aged 27, was sentenced to 12 months’ imprisonment and reformatice detention for a further two years. James Walter Barr Brown, a Putaruru coroner: and justice of the peace, who pleaded guilty to two charges of indecent assault on boys, was sentenced to five years’ .reformative treatment. Robert Edward Young was sentenced to three years’ reformative detention for an unnatural offence at Hamilton. Robert Arthur Sam ways, charged with indecent assault at Huntly, was found guilty. Sentence was deferred. On leaving the court for the cells Whare Matangi attempted, to break away from the police escort. It took the combined efforts of several warders and policemen to handcuff him. While struggling on the ground the prisoner declared that he did not core if thev hanged him.* . J
