DUNEDIN PHILHA RMONIC SOCIETY.

The Dunedin Philharmonic Society’s concert to be held in the concert chamber of the Town Hall. on Tuesday next promises to be / a very attractive one, as an interesting and varied programme has been arranged. The opening item will .be a stirring march, “ L’Amour est Roi ” (Moutop). The overture “Ruy Bias” (Mendelssohn) is another delightful num-‘ ber, which will be followed by the everpopular prelude to the first act of “Lohengrin” (Wagner), the.first part of the programme concluding with “Suite Mignonne ” and “ Carneval Venetien ” (Burgmein). The second part will be opened with the “Fantasia Orchestrale" from “La Boheme” (Puccini), whichUs considered as one of this composers finest compositions. It will be followed by “ Elegiac Melodies ” (Grieg) and the overture “ Guislane ” (Mouton). The reappearance of Signor Givonni Stella at this concert will be welcomed by admirers of the Italian bel canto style. Signor Stella came from the Italian school which has given to the world artists of the calibre of Scotti, Caruso, Titto, Buffo, and Bond. He is gifted with a colourful tenor voice, which he uses with great artistry,, The lady vocalist for this ebbcert will be Miss Clare Dillon, who is also possessed of a very fine voice, .The box plan arrangements are advertised.
