RESTRICTION OF CREDIT
EFFECT ON AUSTRALIAN TOURISTS. NO APPRECIABLE REDUCTION. (United Press Association.) (By Electric Telegraph—Copyright) SYDNEY, March 12. The restriction of credit for Australians travelling overseas has had no appreciable effect on the number sailing in the immediate future, but the general opinion is that a decline must set in shortly. The tourist season is now at its height, and it is common knowledge that some shipping companies are assisting travellers in their financial arrangements, rather than lose the tourist business. The companies concerned accept in Australia amounts limited to a few hundred pounds from clients and issue a receipt payable, at the other end. The usual charge ranges to 4 per cent.
