Police spoilt the romance. The kiosk at Vaucluse House, one' of the shop places of Sydney, as it is linked with William Charles Wentworth, a famous statesman, has been broken into and robbed five times in five weeks, On the last occasion the thief, who calls himself “ The Cat,” discovered a letter indicating that the proprietress of the kiosk is a single woman. In a laborious hand, he left the following note /or her delectation —something, to take away the sting of his work:—" Dear Miss,—Just a few lines to let you now that I dident now that a woman owned this place until I got inside.
