AORANGI'S PASSENGERS.
PERIOD OF QUARANTINE. MAJORITY TO BE RELEASED TO-DAY. (Pee Untied Pbess Association.) AUCKLAND, February 27. Eighty-one of the Aorangi’s passengers who have been in quarantine on Motuihi Island since last Monday will be reelased to-morrow. Most of" those remaining, about 20, will be released by Monday. Included in the 81 is Miss A. T. Menzies, of Dunedin. The passengers will he free on reaching the city, •but for about a fortnight they will be kept under observation by the. health authorities in their home towns. The passengers remaining in quarantine are those who‘found it inconvenient to leave before .Monday .or others who ha\e to wait for the development of their vaccination. ♦ xhe smallpox patient, although now almost well, will remain on the island for three weeks. No charge for the maintenance of the passengers will be made by the Union Company. This decision was announced to-day by the local office where it was stated that the company has the right to charge hoard in . such circumstances, and has done so in the past. (Received heb.27, at 11 p. m .) The Aorhngi is expected to reach Syduey to-morow afternoon. The quarantine authorities state that passengers who ar- vaccinated at Auckland and had not been similarly treated before Will require to complete the quarantine period here namely nine days. The remainder, after passing the medical examination, will be released forthwith,.
