FINED FOR BETTING.

COMPETING WITH TOTALISATOE. (Per United Press Association.) AUCKLAND, February 27. In the Police Court to-day William Baker and Lionel Arthur Baker were each fined £3 for laying totalisator odds at the trotting meeting at Alexandra Park yesterday. Chief Detective Hammond said both men were doing some silver betting on a small scale. They had only a few pounds on them when they were caught by Detective Nalder. One was taking the wagers and the other was looking after the money. Neither had been in any trouble previously.-
