ROMNEY MARSH SHEEP

QUALITY OF WOOL. EXPERTS RIDICULE CRITICISM. (United Press Association.) (By Electric Telegraph—Copyright.) SYDNEY, February 26. (Received Feb. 26, at 5.5 p.m.) The Romney Marsh sheepbreeders of New South Wales take strong exception to the remarks made by Sir Frederick Aykroyd to the effect that Romney wool was inferior, and extolling Leicester. Expects here deride the statement pointing out that Romney is usually classed as 46-50, while Leicester is 40-46. Though it bad not the same lustre, • Romney wool was considerably ' finer and useful for lighter types of materials. Romney sheep throve in wet country better than other breeds. Both here, where it is growing in favour, and in New Zealand, any reversion to type or development of coarseness was simply due to lack of care in breeding.
