COST OF EDUCATION.

INADEQUATE CAPITATION GRANTS. THREE COMMITTEES RESIGN. (Per United Press Association.) Wellington; February 26, The Te Aro, Eilbimic, and Hataitai School Committees have resigned as a protest against the inadequate capitation grants. Previously the Wellington Education Board allowed some of the committees concessions on reduced school roll numbers, which placed these committees in a better position than the customary procedure of paying on the average attendance. The board has now reverted to payment on the average attendance basis, and the above committees and others in a similar position have lost from £B3 to £l6 in the annual capitation grant.
