DEATH OF A SEAMAN.
WIDOW AWARDED COMPENSATION (Peb United Press Association.)- ’ AUCKLAND, February 25. The Arbitration Court gave judgment for the plaintiff in a claim made by the widow of a seaman, William M‘Leod, against the Northern Steamship Company on account of an injury to her husband’s left thumb, which, it was alleged, was ultimately the cause of his death from septicaemia. The deceased was assisting to splice two wire runners on the steamer Ngapuhi, when a broken wire pierced his thumb. The compensation will amount to about £IOOO.
