The hall presented a bright appearance, gay with streamers tastefuly hung by Mr Albert Hastie. On all sides were beard words of praise for the improvements which had been effected. The ladies in charge of the supper arrangements were loud in'their praises of the new kitchen. After supper a moat successful dance wag held. . Over 60 couples, representing every district on the Taieri Plain, tried °ut , e nei y floor, and danced to the excellent music provided by Irving’s Dance Ino, SCHOOL AFFAIRS. Last yfiar the School Committee was successful in raising a considerable sum mc J ne y be expended on improving the school and grounds. The school buildings have been renovated and modern fur?i tur £ J has . been Stalled. At present tqe Education Board’s men are laying down asphalt paths, and a. drill and play area * The work is nearing completion, and with the levelling work previously done to the grass playground, these grounds are now as good as any country school playgrounds in the district. This year is jubilee year in Allanton. A meeting of ex-pupils will be held on Wednesday evening next to discuss the matter of functions 60me citable, commemorative GENERAL.
