(Received Feb. 23, at 6.5 p.m.) Amid all the controversy surrounding religious persecution in Russia comes a report from Moscow stating that ecclesiastical circles there are considering a day of prayer, probably simultaneously with the foreign Christian churches’ intercession on March 10 against persecution in Russia. The prayers will be devoted to protection of the Soviet regime from foreign enemies. The Society of the Godless is arranging special demonstrations. JEWISH RABBIS ARRESTED. SENATOR BORAH SEEKS DETAILS. WASHINGTON, February 22. (Received Feb. 24, at 1 a.m.) - Senator Borah is attempting to intercede with the Soviet on behalf of 14 Jewish rabbis who were recently arrested. He is working independently of the State Department, which is takingno action. He admitted that he has sent a cablegram to the Soviet authorities in Moscow asking for details of the reported arrest, hut he declined to discuss the case pending a reply. “ Several days ago I was asked by many Americans to interest myself in tile situation, and lam doing sp. lam still working on the matter.”
