Mrs Borriman,. of Owaka, was on a v bnt to Alexandra this week. Mr F. Galley, of the Invercargill telephone exchange staff, has been transferred to Alexandra. . Mr and Mrs E. Pirie and Mrs J. Morrison, of Palmertson, who have been visiting the Lakes, spent a few days in Alexandra last week. Mr S. J. Pierce, of the telephone exchange staff, is at present an annual leave. .Miss E, Williams and Mr Len Mitchell,, of Middlemarch, passed through Alexandra to-day on their way to. the Lakes. Mr F. W. Lindup, engineer, Public Works Department, is at present in■ Dunedin attending the engineers’ conference. Mesdames James .Rivers, W. Duncan,' H. O’Kane, and N. Ruff, of the local croquet club, will be competing-in the Otago tournament next week. The, tragic death of Mr M. M*Lay, which occurred at Invercargill last week, came as a shock to the residents of Alex andra. The deceased was a native of Alexandra, and general sympathy is felt for his widow and child and his relatives who reside here.

Mr G. E. Richards is at present in Dunedin, and will not return until February 24. • - , ■ Mr Bodkin, M.P., left Alexandra tb> day for Wellington.
