SYDNEY, January 10. * (Received Jan. 19, at 6.15 p.m.) In the second heat of the Sayonara Cup race, sailed yesterday in a light north-east breeze, which freshened at sen, the Victorian yacht Acrospire IV led almost throughout, and finished. 7 minutes 25 seconds ahead of the New South Wales yacht Vanessa, but the latter, which had a rating allowance of 9 minutes 44 seconds, was eventually declared the winner by 2 minutes 19 seconds. Clynes presented the Daily Mail Cup to the Australian Rugby League team after its match with Wales, loud eooeeing transcended everything. The Australians won the match by 20 points to 10. SWIMMING, NEW SOUTH WALES CHAMPIONSHIPS. SYDNEY, January 19. (Received Jan. 10, at 5.30 p.m.) The swimming championships were held at the Drummoyne Baths yesterday. Moss Christie won the 880 Yards Championship of New South Wales in Imin 7soc, which is the fastest time of his career. The holder of the title ia N. Ryan, whose time is llmin 2soc. The 220 Yards Championship was won hy C. Light, whose time was 2iuin 27 2-ssec. The New Zealander (Cameron) did only an exhibition swim, attempting to lower Robertsons record for 55 yards, which is 26 3-oscc. Cameron’s time however, was 27 l-10sec. ’ VICTORIAN CHAMPIONSHIPS. MELBOURNE, January 19. (Received Jan. 19, at 5.30 p.m.) The Victorian swimming championships' were decided yesterday. Th e 440 Yards Race was won by F~ Walker in nmin 41 sec. - A, Higginson won the 100 lards Breaststroke in Imin 1“ l-6scc.
