MOUNT IDA MEETING. The Mount Ida Caledonian Society celebrated its jubilee at a sports meeting held at Naseby on New Year’s Day. Brilliant sunshine, a record gate, record enteles, a perfect turf, and a ground in a beautiful setting, together with £l4O prize money t all tended to make this jubilee gathering a great success. The New Years Day sports were inaugurated by the Loyal Naseby M.U.1.0.0.F. Lodge in 1881, but many years prior to this the lodge had held a meeting on New Year’s Day,.as a lodge event only, 1881 being the first year in which it became a public function. Since that date the society has, by careful management, increased the prize money, built up a substantial reserve, and improved its grounds, uhtil today it as claimed to be the equaljbf am country ground in the province.
