CHRISTCHUECH, December 19* H. Opperman (Australia) and P OShea (New .Zealand) met this evening over two distances of five-miles human paced on the English Park cycling track. Over the first distance O’Shea led into the straight after, awievea ‘race/and held Opperman off to win by s, length in a great finish. Time, lOmin 39 3-seec. In the second race the riders were again together all the way, Opperman leading into the straight. O’Shea came almost level in a -wonderful effort, but the Australian won by a wheel Tin," lOmin 23 2-ssec.

Opperman also broke ■ the record for five miles motor paced by 32sec, his time being Bmin 27sec.
