ANIMAL WELFARE WEEK.

For some years past Animal Welfare Week has been held throughout the Dominion, The objects of this week are to arouse public interest in the welfare of animals. This week is being held in Otago this year from November 10 to 17, and the headmasters of schools have been requested to address their pupils on this matter. Ministers and superintendents of Sunday schools have also been asked to bring the matter under the notice of their congregations and Sunday school pupils. Animals arc frequently caused pain and suffering through thoughtlessness and carelessness, and the public is requested to beware of this and report to the Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals any cases in which animals are suffering from neglect or cruelty. At times animals are left in paddocks without sufficient food and water, or left unprotected from the weather. It is hoped that this week will imbue a proper spirit of kindness to animals into the public mind.
