After rain overnight the New Zealand Trotting Cup meeting was continued in fine weather and the attendance appeared to be a record since the clays of the Ribbonwood-Fritz match. The track was in good order, and some very fast times were recorded, including n world’s race record in the final of the Trotting Cup. This was the event that drew the crowd, and when it came up for decisionthe stands and lawn carried a packed mass- of people. Kingcraft played up a bit at the start, and despite the assist nnce of an attendant to help him off the mark he refused to go until the rest of the field were several lengths away from him. He did remarkably well to get neai the leaders with a lap to go. Logan Park made most of the pace or rather held it up. This perhaps was a mistake in tactics. as it sacrificed the handicap and allowed the backmarkers to get handy without calling for any great display of speed to wipe off what they were giving away. They went the last mile in 2min Ssec, and the last half in Imin 3 2-ssec. This meant that the first mile was done in 2min 10 4-sseo, and at the finish Peter Bingen beat Logan Park for speed after being about throe lengths behind him at the home turn. Apart from the mistake

made by Kingcraft, it was a clean run race, and every horse had a fair chance to win. The starting showed a great improvement on that of the first day, when one or two horses were getting away on the move, and the very substantial increase in the totalisator turnover gives the best indication of the attendance. In fact, the totalisator was far too small to cope with the business offering. Ukelele Lady started favourite for the Whiteleigh Handicap. Duke Bingen broke up at the start and at the end of a lap Peter Lin was in front of Ukelele Lady, Lazarus, Nelson M’Kinttey, and Lady Fan, and, Dolores and Young Carbine wore moving up. Peter Lin led Lazarus down the back and round the top with Dolores and Young Carbine handy. Once in the straight. Lazarns went up to Peter Lin and beat him by half a length. Dolores was coming with a good run, nut broke a few strides from the post, and this mistake cost her a good chance of success. She lost ground through the break and yet finished half a length away third. Youito Carbine was close up fourth, and Ukelele Lady and Bingen Star were next.

Great Parrish was a solid favourite for the New Zealand Derby Stakes, They got off to a fair line, but Great Parrish tangled through one of his hobbles catching low near the hock. He, however, soon got going. Captain Wrack dwelt on the mark Royal Silk turned into the back four or five lengths in front of Great Parrish, who was leading Ngingongiugo by a couple of lengths, with Purser close up and well clear of the rest of the field. Royal Silk led round the top and coming down the, running Great Parrish was just behind him, with Ngingongiugo and Pnrsei handy. Royal Silk and Great Parrish raced down the back together, with Ngiugongingo and Purser close up. Great Parrish dropped back a couple of lengths before reaching the home turn. Once in the straight Purser and Ngingongingo closed on the leader and a great finish home saw Purser beat Royal Silk by half a length. Ngingonino was a neck away third, and Great Parrish finished a length and a-half further back. The others were right out of It. It was a fine race and served to bring out a very promising lot of young pacers, who, with ordinary luck, seem destined to take high honours in thefuture. The favourite was a bit unlucky in not getting off smoothly as tha tangle may have upset him at the outset of the race, and he was injudiciously handled in covering extra ground. AH'honour, however, is due to the winner, who went a solid race, and so did Royal Silk, who was responsible for setting a solid pace right through the piece, Travis Axworthy started favourite for the Courtenay Handicap. Dihvorth lost ground at the start, and Maiwhariti led out from Travis Axworthy and Harvest Child. At the stand Maiwhariti was leading Loch Moigh, Travis Axworthy, ildd Lindbergh. The leadership Was much the same until beginning the last lap, when Maiwhariti, Native Prince, and Silk Thread were lending a bunched field. Maiwhariti was still in charge going down tile back, where Dihvorth and Torpedo Huon 'raced 'up to the leaders. Maiwhariti was leading towards the .home turn, when Dihvorth got on terms and the former apparently had to be checked. Dihvorth led into the straight and won by throe lengths from Maiwhariti. Torpedo Huon was a length away, third, and Pluto was fourth. Then came Harvest Child. Daphne de Oro, and Travis Axworthy. With very little delay the field got in lino for the Trotting Cup. Kingcraft broke up badly at the start, and was a long way in the rear of the field when he settled down. Imprint led along the back from Logan Park, Kohara, and Dundas Boy, but at the end of a furlong Logan. Park went to the front, being followed past the stand by Imprint, while Padlock moved up fast into third place, with Kohara and Dundas Boy bandy. Leaving the straight Padlock joined Logan Park in the lead, but Logan Park was out in front again going along the back, with' Padlock and Kohara leading the others. At this stage Kingcraft had i'oincd in at the tail of the field. Logan J ark was, a length in front of Padlock and Imprint at the mile post, but running along the straight Kingcraft put in a brilliant run and at the stand be was only half a Inegth behind Logan Park and Padlock, with Imprint and Dundas Boy a length away. Logan Park led Kingcraft, Imprint, and Padlock into the back stretch, but a little further on Kingcraft commenced to drop back. Three furlongs from home Logan Park shot out to a lead of three lengths. Imprint being next, while Peter Bingen was moving up fast from fifth position. Peter Bingen followed Logan Park to the straight, with Imprint next and Dundal Boy fourth. Peter Bingen took the lead halfway down the straight and won by two lengths from Ixigan Park Five lengths away came Dundag Boy. who stayed on well to beat Imprint;by a length for third place, with Kohara next, and Padlock sixth, Vendome at once assumed the role of pacemaker in the November Handicap, afid led Athalonc, Real Light, and William the Great past the stand. The leadership was unchanged at the end of another round, where Billy Sea and Golden Bubbles were up with the leaders. Vendome continued to show the way and led into tho straight from Real Light and Genuine. Vendome commenced to tire SO yards from home, and Real Light beat Genuine by a neck. Vendome was half a away third, with Jolly Pet and Billy Sea next.

Nelson de Oro soon reached the front m the Metropolitan Handicap, and led Richore, Locanda Boy, and Granite i;it • past the stand. Nelson de Oro was still in charge at the beginning of the last lap, and was followed by Locanda Boy. Richore, Aleron, and Dilnon. Sunshower moved up fast on the outside when going down the back, and turned into the straight with Muriel de Oro, Great Logan, and Nelson De Oro. A good finish saw Sunshower beat Muriel de Oro by half a length. Greait Logan was the same distance away, and then came Richore land Sir Author, heading a bunch. Audorainion ran out to a big lead in the first mile of the Spckburn Handicap, and was leading Duke Bingen. Master Ando, highborn, Koro Peter, and Le Todd at the end of the first half of the journey With a lap to go they had closed on the leader, and Koro Peter was moving up, while Western Voyage was putting in good work. Nighborn led Into the straight, where he had Koro Peter and Western Voyage in hot pursuit. Nighborn broke 50 yard ■ from home, and Koro Peter won by two lengths from Western Voyage. * who beat Nighborn by half a length. Master Audo was next, and the others were eased up. Native Chief galloped off the mark in the concluding event, and at the first turn Logan Hanlon. St, Maura, and Tom Thumb got mixed up. Brentlot. Final MTvinney. Fight Ever, Jean M'Ehvyn. and Talent was the order passing the stand. Gold Jacket broke at the turn out of the straight and was pulled up. Talent and Maiwhariti struck trouble in the back s treteh. Brentloc led round the top. and. stalling off Jean M’Elwyn, beat her by a length. Bessie Logan was three lengths away, and then came Bonny Logan Native Prince, Native Chief, and Western King. The mishaps in the race robbed it of a lot of interest particularly ns a strong fancy in Tom Thumb had his chance spoilt in tho first furlong. ACCEPTANCES FOR TO-DAY. (Per United Press Association.)
