. OFFICIAL OPENING. The official opening of the bowling great the Rosa Home was held ’ yesterdc afternoon, and although wet weather rei. dered bowling out of the question, a verenjoyable social hour was spent by lb inmates and the visitors. Although tl. weather militated against a compfehensh tour, of the home grounds, the visitor were,delighted with the appearance of th garden , plots which came under tliei ■ notice, and it was very evident that considerable amount of time and troub: had been expended in bringing them n to their present state of perfection. ThRev. W. Trotter presided, and asked M C. 1 Russell Smith to declare the grec open. In doing so, Mr Smith said he r-. gretted that the inmates were unable t use the green that afternoon, but the nm club was well off for equipment and coni look forward to an'enjoyable seaso; Under the supervision of Mr Thompsru the caretaker of the Otago Bowling Club green, the green at the home had iu proved immensely, and was in escellon playing order. Messrs J. J. Marlow am D. M. Fastier, who spoke on behalf o the Dominion of New Zealand Bowlin Association, conveyed good wishes for tin success' of the new green, while Mr; Adess,; as vice-president of the Dunedu Ladies’ Bowling Association, also congrr. tulated the new club.
