NEW ZEALAND HONEY.
CONTINENTAL MARKETS
GERMAN APPRECIATION. (From Our Own Correspondent.) - r Tr LONDON, August 15. urnf 1 ' r^ 1 ' Castle, of Messrs A. J. JMUis and Co., has recently returned from another business tour in Germany, Denmark, and Sweden. He finds the outlook tor New Zealand honey for the coming season very bright. Scandinavian buyers who wanted New Zealand honey very badly last winter vvere disappointed because, on account of the intense arctic cold, it was impossible to get supplies through. The result was that sales in Northern Europe were not so large as they would have been had weather conditions been favourable, Mr Castle says: “Everyone in DcnDiark and Sweden with whom I discussed the matter was very optimistic regarding sales this autumn, and winter, and it is clear that New Zealand still holds the premier position in northern climes.” POSITION IN GERMANY. Steady progress is being mad- in Germany, but in the present economic position it is not easy to sell large quantities of a high-priced honey such as New Zealand in face of the competition of lowerpnced honeys, such as Californian. Cuban, and Jamaiesn, e t c . The German people appreciate a really good honey, and they know that New Zealand is not only pure but of tip-top quality; but ■if their pockets will not permit of their purchasing it they must put up with a cheaper —it inferior—article. “As the general position in Germany improves" says Mr Castle, “so the sale •j aTl ® honey will increase, provided that advertising continues. In Germany, as in most European countries to-day a branded article must be consistently advertised if progress is to be made and success achieved. » All the Imperial Bee ’ honey ig sold- in glass jars bearing the well-known label."
