DUKE OF GLOUCESTER
ARRIVAL AT HONGKONG. i TRIUMPHANT TOUR OF CITY. (United Pres* Association.) (By Electric Telegraph-—Copyright ) HONGKONG, April 25. British warships thundered a salute as the Duke of Gloucester stepped' ashore at Hongkong this morning. He was -& ceivec. by the Governor. The streets were lined with soldiers and sailors. The Prince made a triumphant tour of the city en route to the City Hall, where addresses of welcome were presented. A feature of the proceedings was the gift of a magnificent four-fold Chinese screen, exquisitely carved and embroidered, six feet high, by the Chinese community An address accompanied it. The most quaint extract was as follows:—“ The people, old and young, make manifest their delight. They run hither and thither eager with joy at seeing your royal person. From the depths of their hearts they pay a tribute of loyalty to his Majesty the King.” The Prince is staying here for three days. He then proceeds to Japan on H.M.S. Suffolk.—United Service.
