EMPLOYERS AND UNIONS
CONSULTATION AND CO-OPERA-TION. RESOLUTION BEING CONSIDERED, (British Official Wireless.) (United Press Association.) <By Electric Telegraph—Copyright.) RUGBY, April 25. (Received April 26, at 7 p.m.) The General Council of the Trades Union Congress yesterday considered a resolution on industrial consultation and co-operation adopted at a conference between representatives of the council and of the two leading organisations of employers. The resolution called for a joint committee to consider the best methods for effecting this consultation and co-opera-tion, and as a first step the Trades Union Council has asked its Industrial Committee to present a full report at a meeting to be held in May, when decisions for carrying out the resolution may be taken. Similarly the resolution must be referred back to the employers’ organisations and presented again at a joint conference before action can be taken, as the representatives at the conference did not possess plenary powers, which rest with the National Confederation of Employers’ Organisations and the Federation of British Industries. It is, however, accepted that a favourable atmosphere has been created, and the resolution means all that it implies.
