PALMERSTON NOTES.

(From Oub Own Correspondent.) PALMERSTON, April 26. On Friday evening a farewell smoke concert was tendered to Mr James Black, who is about t<£ make a trip to the Old Country. Mr Black is a native of the district, and for some years had been living in the town, during which time he has been a keen and active member of the Borough Council, Bowling Club, Athenaeum Committee, A. and P. Society, Collie Dog Club, Hospital Committee, etc. During the evening representatives of these societies spoke of the fine fellowship of the guest, and wished him bon voyage and a safe return.
