His long experience of nearly 20 years of municipal, serviefe has amply qualified him Tor the Office of Mayor of the City of Dunedin, and if elected is prepared to devote his whole time to'furthering the interests of his native city. r. W. KNIGHT, CANDIDATE FOR ELECTION TO DUNEDIN CITY COUNCIL, Presents his views on one or two of the most important questions now prominently before th e citizens. The Two Most Outstanding Questions are: 1. Protection from Floods. 2. Sale of the Waipori Rights. Prompt and vigorous action must bo taken in the matter of the floods, and the best engineering talent employed at any reasonable cost. Nothing that will tend to prevent a recurrence of the recent disasters must be lefe undone. I am in favour of the sale of the Wai,pon rights to the Government, always providing that a fair price is obtained, and especially that there shall be no increase in cost of light or power either to private consumers or to the city itself. 1 consider the sale is necessary to ensure that there shall be a continuous' supply of electricity sufficient to meet present demand or any demands that might arise in the future. The council are to be congratulated on the success of the city trading concerns, but not always on the application of the profits. These, generally speaking, should be applied to the reduction of rates; but, in view of tbe present unemployment, a considerable proportion of the profits might well be expended on useful works to relieve the labour difficulty. gOROUGH OF MOSGIEL.
