BIG FIRE IN ADELAIDE. PETROL BULK STORE DESTROYED. t • 1 ■ ■■■■ • (United Press Association.) (By Electric Telegraph—Copyright.) ADELAIDE, February 8. A fire, which broke out in a bulk store belonging to H. Sleigh, spread to a motor assembly plant belonging to Millingcn and Co. Fifty thousand gallons of cased petrol and oil blazed furiously at Sleigh’s premises. .Four men, in endeavouring to cheek the. flames, were seriously burned. The damage is estimated at £9OOO. Australian Press Association. ' RAIN IN NEW SOUTH WALES. RIVER LEVELS RISING. SYDNEY, February 8. The torreutial rains which have fallen on the North Coast in the last few days have caused the rivers to rise to alarming levels, Us much as 145 n of rain being recorded in 24 . hours. The State Meteorologist has issued warnings that there is danger of floods. These have been sent to the postinasters in the North Coast river towns.

SMALL COLLIER FOUNDERS. SIX OF CREW MISSING. SYDNEY, February 8. (Received Feb. 9, 1.30 a.m.) A small collier, the Annie M. Miller, foundered about 7.45 to-night, six miles south, south-east of Sydney Heads. The pilot of the vessel, Captain Cook, was picked up with six’ of the crew, who were being tossed in the angry sea in a lifeboat. Six others are missing, and the search is being continued. ■ , The South Heads Lighthouse keeper sighted the collier half an hour before She foundered, but he suddenly missed her. He then saw rockets, and he informed the pilot of the vessel Tingsfiekl.
